Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival, Kigali City Tour & Transfer to Ruhengeri
Your first day off the 2 days Rwanda gorilla tour starts upon arrival at the Kigali International Airport where you will be met by one of our tour guides waiting to transfer you to Kigali City for an exciting City Tour. Remarkable sites you will visit include the Kigali genocide memorial sites such as the Gisozi genocide memorial site which is very near to Kigali City, visit to the local craft arts market where you can even choose to buy some of the precious souvenirs and handmade products (that is why we recommend that you budget for the miscellaneous too). From here, you will visit one of the local hotels/restaurants for a typical Rwandan local dish and thereafter head on towards Volcanoes National Park headquarters in Musanze also known as Ruhengeri where the gorilla trekking activity is carried out from. Along the journey, you will enjoy a picturesque drive with stopovers on the way to take memorable pictures and enjoy delightful moments until we reach in time and check-in at one of the hotel/lodges around for Dinner and Overnight stay.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes, Transfer to Kigali
The second day of this gorilla tour will start a bit early, waking up at about 6:00 am for an early energetic breakfast then after, get transferred to the park for the gorilla briefing from the park wardens where you will learn about the Dos and Dont’s of the whole experience with the gorillas.
At about 8:00 am after the briefing, you will start to hike into the forest with the lead of an armed guide following specific trails in search of the allocated gorilla family. After reaching the gorillas in about 1-6 hours of search, you will spend an hour with them as you observe them play, feed and cuddle with each other after which you will then descend back to the lodge for a delicious lunch buffet. In the afternoon, you may opt for a cultural performance at the nearby communities, or if you are on time with your flight departure arrangements, our driver will drive you off to Kigali dropping you off at the Airport or Hotel depending on your choice.
